Lt. Gleason was in a battery of the 15th Field Artillery 2nd Infantry. After his unit arrived in Korea there were moved immediately into action fighting all the way to the Yellow River on the borders of Manchuria.  He was reported missing February 13, 1951 after an engagement involving about 400 men of whom only about four escaped.  Jack had been taken prisoner and marched from Hoengsong, South Korea toward China.  He evidently died of wounds while warehoused for the night. After the war, his remains were found in a common grave so after identifications he was transported home to Garland to be buried with military honors.
